Saint Joanna
1st Century

Saint Joanna was the wife of Chuza, one of Herod’s servants. According to an Eastern tradition, Saint John the Baptist’s head was carelessly cast away. It was Saint Joanna who picked up the head and buried it with honor on the Mount of Olives. During the reign of Constantine the Great, the burial place was discovered. Saint Joanna is also counted among the women who came to the empty tomb on Easter morning.
