Saint Zita (1212-1272)
Born into poverty, Saint Zita was taught by her mother to seek God’s will in all circumstances. At the age of 12, she was sent to work as a servant to the Fatinelli household in Lucca. However, her presence was met with hostility and she endured beatings and harsh treatment. Through it all, Saint Zita faithfully attended Mass and treated her abusers with kindness. Saint Zita teaches us to entrust all of our cares to God and seek His will in all things. She is the patroness of maids and domestic workers.
