Saint Regina, Virgin and Martyr

3rd Century

~ +++++++ ~

After her mother died in childbirth, Regina was left with her pagan father.

Deeming himself unfit to raise her, her father Clement entrusted Regina to the care of a Christian nurse. Regina’s nurse baptized her and raised her in the Faith from infancy.

When Regina began working as a shepherdess, she devoted herself to prayer and contemplation on the saints, making the countryside her cloister.

At age 15, her father betrothed her to a pagan consul. Regina was asked to renounce her Faith for the marriage, but she refused.

In retribution, Regina was tortured and beheaded, dying heroically as a virgin martyr.

Saint Regina, pray for us!

Prayer for the Feast of St. Regina

Lord, we come before you in recognition of the courage of your humble martyr Regina.

May we imitate her faithfulness and love for You as we pray for the courage and strength to follow You, regardless of the cost.

We ask this in the holy name of Jesus.

Amen.
