1045-1093

Saint Margaret of Scotland was not originally from Scotland. She was the daughter of a princess from Hungary and the Anglo-Saxon Prince Edward Atheling. Her family fled from William the Conqueror and was shipwrecked off the coast of Scotland.

The king reigning in that territory, Malcolm, fell in love with Margaret and they were soon married. Margaret aided in the ongoing conversion of her husband while nurturing and instructing eight children.

She was devoted to the poor and orphaned and spent her life in selfless service to her family and those in need.
